Celebrating Creativity: Isle of Creativity Meets National Landscapes

The National Landscapes Creative Landscapes project has been an inspiring journey, bringing together young minds and the beauty of our natural surroundings. We’re thrilled to share that members of New Carnival’s youth project, Isle of Creativity, had the incredible opportunity to participate in this initiative, leaving their creative mark on the Isle of Wight.
The project, which celebrates the intersection of art and nature, encouraged participants to explore their local landscapes through a creative lens. From workshops to hands-on activities, the young artists delved into themes of sustainability, heritage, and the unique character of the Isle of Wight. Their contributions not only showcased their artistic talents but also deepened their connection to the environment around them.
Our young people worked with Gemma to explore Eco Printing and Gelli Printing techniques before creating stunning collages that represented iconic areas of the island such as Culver Down, Brading Down, Bembridge Forelands, and Yaverland. Through these artistic experiments, they captured the essence of these beautiful landscapes, blending creativity with environmental awareness.
It was a particularly exciting experience for the young people to see their work displayed in the professional exhibition at Newport Minster. Additionally, their artwork is being featured in the National Landscapes Management Plan document—a testament to the impact of their creative journey and the value of their contributions.
For the Isle of Creativity members, this was more than just an artistic endeavor—it was a chance to collaborate, learn, and grow. Their work, inspired by the island’s breathtaking scenery, stands as a testament to the power of creativity in fostering a sense of community and environmental stewardship.
We’re incredibly proud of their achievements and can’t wait to see how these experiences shape their future projects.
